Diversity
Together, let's cultivate diversity
With 6,300 employees and more than 60 nationalities working together and sharing their differences on a daily basis in more than 28 countries, BOURBON is essentially a multicultural group. Backed by this openness to the world, the group is formalizing its practices to benefit as much as possible from this diversity, a source of wealth for the company and its employees.
For BOURBON, living and cultivating diversity means:
- respecting and taking into account all individuals without distinction,
- recognizing and valuing all identities without discrimination,
- practicing a policy of equal opportunity.
This diversity, which is perfectly in sync with BOURBON's values, is a key factor in the success of the Horizon 2012 strategic plan, which calls for recruiting nearly 5,000 employees in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
BOURBON assumes its social responsibility through one key principle: equal opportunity. This principle is reflected in recruitment and employee integration as well as training and career paths.
The professional development plans are the same for all the areas in which BOURBON operates. The subsidiaries offer a very high qualification standard identical for everyone and tailored to local peculiarities.
Employee mix
Excluding vessels, women account for more than 35% of the workforce. Integrating women into staff positions is a reality at BOURBON, which offers them many opportunities at its operations office and in its subsidiaries.
As for navigational staff, BOURBON is committed to supporting promotional campaigns to encourage more women to enroll in the schools and to convince women to embark on its vessels, which are still mostly male in the oil services sector.
Seniors
For BOURBON, seniors represent a huge pool of experience. They are vital for jobs involving a transfer of knowledge, for assistance, and professional guidance (as mentor, trainer or referent officer).
Their experience is essential and highly valued. For the training of new generations, particularly for careers at sea, seniors have real added value.
Diversity, a factor of unity
Uniting diversity means promoting mutual understanding among employees from different backgrounds and allowing everyone to benefit from their potential. This means synthesizing different visions, nourishing creativity through sharing, aiding social cohesion and competitiveness. By valuing diversity as one of the key components of its sustainable development policy, BOURBON is fully assuming its social responsibility and expressing its convictions: recognition of the notion of unity from multiplicity; and of diversity as a source of wealth.
