Partnerships and local actions
As the initiator in 2004, in partnership with public institutions, of the first Dynamic Positioning training center accessible to the entire profession in France, BOURBON demonstrates its historic commitment to learning and its wish to cooperate in the excellence of marine professional training abroad by developing its relations with schools around the world.
BOURBON's educational partnerships with international marine schools and universities and schools that prepare students for marine studies take different forms:
- Development of specific courses
- Lectures on professions
- Holding theme-based seminars
- Meetings between students and companies
- Immersion internships
- Sponsoring classes and students
- Sponsorship
A few examples of partnerships
Shanghai Maritime University (China)
Educational partnership entered into in July 2008.
Commitment by BOURBON: sponsor 20 young students (10 bridge watch officers and 10 deck watch officers) from the time they enter the Maritime University until they get their officer's certification.
This means paying for their tuition and some personal expenses, internships on board BOURBON vessels, and the promise of a job in the Asia region after training, provided they receive STCW certification.
Greatship India Limited (India)
Educational partnership entered into in April 2008.
Commitment by BOURBON: sponsor eight young students (4 bridge watch officers and 4 deck watch officers) from the time they enter the Maritime College until they get their officer's certification.
This means paying for their tuition and some personal expenses, internships on board BOURBON vessels, and the promise of a job in the Asia region after training, provided they receive STCW certification.
Aalesund University College (Norway)
Educational partnership entered into in 2006.
Actions and commitments by BOURBON:
- Partnership with the Offshore Simulator Center (OSC) for the development of the AHTS operation simulator, with which the BOURBON Training Centers in Marseilles and Singapore are equipped.
- Technical training by one of the captains of the Bourbon Orca in charge of classes.
- Lectures on professions and meetings with students.
The Marseilles National Merchant Navy School, France
Educational partnership since 2001.
Actions and commitments by BOURBON :
- Two training centers developed - a DP training center in 2004 and an AHTS operations training center in 2007.
- Sponsorship: Hydro’s Cup (an annual regatta aimed at bringing together the players in the Marseilles marine sector, held by the ENMM [National Merchant Navy School) students' association).
- Lectures on professions and meetings with students.
- Presence on the Board of Directors.
Euromed Management Marseilles (France)
A member of the Partners' Club and the Corporate Network along with 41 international companies since 2007.
BOURBON contributed to the opening and development of the Maritime MBA, which opened its doors in September 2008 within Euromed Management Marseilles, thus helping to develop the marine sector in management and business training curricula.
