BOURBON Training Center Manila

Introduction

Bourbon TrainingInaugurated in October 2007, the BOURBON Training Center in Manila, in the Philippines, is specialized in Dynamic Positioning (DP). Its objective is to reinforce the BOURBON international training policy.
Objectif : renforcer la politique de formation BOURBON à l’international.

All BOURBON’s new generation offshore service vessels, with the exception of passenger transport vessels, are rated DP2 to meet high standards in terms of reliability and operational safety. This equipment standard for the vessels requires that all bridge Officers now must be certified in Dynamic Positioning.
The opening of this BOURBON Training Center allows BOURBON to guarantee the standard of quality of its training program in the high-growth Asia area.
The Manila training center is certified by London’s Nautical Institute, the only authority recognized for certification of DP centers. Primarily open to the BOURBON seamen to support its ambitious recruitment program in the offshore oil and gas marine services sector, the center can also host officers from other marine companies.
The BOURBON Training Center in Manila contributes to the standardized training worldwide offered to all BOURBON crews, in a context in which the fleet is increasingly standardized because of long series of identical vessels.

This standardization guarantees our customers greater efficiency, increased safety and identical service quality everywhere in the world.

The simulator

Training Center ManilaThe dynamic positioning training program alternates theoretical instruction with practical instruction on the simulator. The 3D simulator gives the trainee an extremely realistic experience, which must then be validated by onboard training on DP vessels.

At the end of the training period, a trainee must:

  • have acquired in-depth knowledge of the practical aspects of DP operations;
  • be able to plan and conduct a DP operation, with planning and evaluation of the vessel capacity;
  • be able to perform the operation, in cases that require all types of seamanship and operational requirements;
  • know how to deal with any risk that may arise.

Four operator stations equipped with the BEIER ICVS 2000 DP software system and two instructors, who are themselves certified DP operators, will train more than 150 trainees every year.
